The BENG CAO GANG MU collection draws its inspiration from the ancient Chinese text, "本草纲目" (BENG CAO GANG MU), also known as the Compendium of Materia Medica. Compiled by the renowned Chinese physician Li Shizhen during the Ming dynasty, this text is an encyclopedic masterpiece detailing hundreds of herbs and their medicinal properties, symbolizing healing, balance, and the power of nature to restore well-being.
In the same spirit, this collection serves as a metaphorical remedy for modern challenges, addressing both social and environmental issues. "Just as each herb in the compendium is meant to cure ailments and bring balance, the BENG CAO GANG MU collection seeks to soothe social anxiety, encourage people to cherish their uniqueness, and provide a cure for one of the fashion industry's greatest pain points—pollution and surplus stock." (Snow Li)
Crafted entirely from upcycled and organic materials, this collection embodies our commitment to sustainability through the CMRC (Call Me Recycle) upcycling process. By transforming surplus fabrics and discarded materials into bold, creative designs, we not only reduce waste but also celebrate the uniqueness of each piece—much like the diverse and invaluable herbs detailed in the BENG CAO GANG MU text. " I believe what comes from earth should go back to earth. A bird feather falls, another bird uses it to build a nest. I wish to spread this beautifully natural process throughout humanity and to protect our earth, and to achieve that through CMRC process and SNOWLEE LAB. " (Snow Li)
Through this collection, which will form the foundation of our soon-to-launch upcycled blanks, we hope to inspire others to view fashion as a form of healing—both for individuals and for the planet. By embracing upcycling, sustainability, and individuality, the BENG CAO GANG MU collection offers a fresh perspective on how fashion can become a powerful remedy for the industry's environmental impact.
